Aiming at promoting wider access to cultural heritage, the Museu de Arte do Rio guarantees that accessibility is possible within its physical structures, as well as promoting educational actions that are accessible to the general public without exceptions. To achieve this, in partnership with public bodies, schools and specialised institutions, we have developed proposals for educational visits and training with educators to identify educational activities for every public, including people with disabilities.

Our actions include the establishment of research groups on accessibility, in order to develop proposals for visits, special educational activities projects, the training of educators and the promotion of actions that are integrated with families.

MAR aims to be an environment that is accessible, in the full meaning of the word.

The Exhibition Pavilion (the Dom João VI building) and the Escola do Olhar are adapted for visits from wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility. On the fifth floor of the Escola do Olhar, we also have a touchable model of the museum and its surroundings.

Accessible visit

The team of educators continually prepare themselves for the acceptance of and dialogue with disabled people and are on hand to make your visit an exceptional experience!
